Cleaning generally sits under household tasks in the Core Supports budget, and which cleaner you can choose depends entirely on how your plan is managed — not on what the cleaner offers.
Our position on registration, stated plainly
3 Piglets Cleaning is not an NDIS registered provider. That means self-managed and plan-managed participants can choose us freely, and agency-managed (NDIA-managed) participants cannot. If you are unsure how your plan is managed, your plan manager or support coordinator can confirm it in a minute.
Where cleaning sits in a plan
Household tasks normally fall under Assistance with Daily Life within Core Supports. Core Supports are the most flexible part of a plan, which is why cleaning is one of the more straightforward supports to arrange. What your specific plan includes is between you, your planner and your plan manager — a cleaning business cannot tell you what your plan covers, and you should be wary of one that claims it can.
Plan management decides who you can hire
| Plan type | Can you use a non-registered cleaner? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Self-managed | Yes | You choose any provider and manage the payments yourself |
| Plan-managed | Yes | Your plan manager pays providers on your behalf, registered or not |
| Agency-managed (NDIA-managed) | No | The NDIA only pays NDIS-registered providers |
This is the single most important thing to establish before you start ringing around. It saves everybody's time.
What household task support usually covers
| Area | Usually included | Usually on request |

| Bathroom and toilet | Shower, screen, basin, toilet, mirror, floor, bin | Grout detail, exhaust fan cover |
| Bedrooms | Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, bed made or linen changed | Under-bed vacuum, wardrobe reorganise |

Questions worth asking before you commit
- Are you registered, and does that matter for my plan type?
- Will I get the same person, and what happens when they are away?
- What do you send my plan manager, and how often?
- Can you work fragrance-free?
- How much notice do you need to change a visit?
- What happens if I am unwell on the day?

Frequently asked questions
Does NDIS cover house cleaning?
Household tasks are a common Core Supports inclusion, but what your particular plan funds is a question for your planner or plan manager. We are a cleaning business and cannot advise on plan content.
Can I use a cleaner who is not NDIS registered?
If your plan is self-managed or plan-managed, yes. If it is agency-managed (NDIA-managed), you need a registered provider.
What paperwork will I need?
Usually an agreed task list up front and a record of the tasks completed at each visit. Your plan manager will tell you if they need anything beyond that.
