What are the Questions to be Asked before Hiring NDIS House Cleaners?

What are the Questions to be Asked before Hiring NDIS House Cleaners?

Ask these twelve before the first visit, not after the third one goes wrong. The answers tell you more about whether an arrangement will last than any amount of marketing does.

Our position on registration, stated plainly

3 Piglets Cleaning is not an NDIS registered provider. That means self-managed and plan-managed participants can choose us freely, and agency-managed (NDIA-managed) participants cannot. If you are unsure how your plan is managed, your plan manager or support coordinator can confirm it in a minute.

About your plan

Question and the answer you want
AskA good answer sounds like
Are you an NDIS registered provider?A straight yes or no, plus what it means for your plan type
Can you work with my plan type?Self-managed and plan-managed: yes. Agency-managed: a registered provider is required
What do you send my plan manager?A record of tasks completed each visit, at whatever interval they need

About the people

Screening and continuity
AskA good answer sounds like
What screening do your workers hold?NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, Worker Orientation, police check
Will I get the same person each visit? The same technician by default, with advance notice if that changes
What happens when they are on leave? You are told beforehand and the replacement is briefed on your task list
Are you insured?Public liability across every job, and they can tell you so without checking

About the visit

Practicalities
AskA good answer sounds like
Can I have a fixed day and time?Yes, and it is held rather than moved around the run
How much notice to change or cancel?A clear number, applied both ways
Can you work fragrance-free?Yes, noted on your file before the first visit
Will you put the scope in writing?Yes, before the first clean, agreed with you
What is outside your scope?A clear list — personal care, health advice, repairs

Warning signs

  • Cannot say clearly whether they are registered
  • Will not put the scope in writing
  • Offers a four-hour arrival window as standard
  • Different person every visit, presented as normal
  • Offers advice about what your plan should fund
  • Offers to help with personal care as a favour
  • Cannot tell you what screening their workers hold

None of these mean a provider is dishonest. They do mean the arrangement is likely to be harder work than it should be.

We provide NDIS cleaning support across Melbourne's eastern suburbs. If you would like to talk through what would work for you, get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

What if a cleaner will not answer these questions?

That is your answer. A provider used to NDIS work will have these responses ready because they get asked constantly.

Should my support coordinator be in the conversation?

If you have one and would like them there, absolutely. Plenty of our first walk-throughs include a support coordinator.

Can I trial a provider before committing?

Yes. Book a single clean rather than signing up to an ongoing schedule, and decide afterwards.
