Frame it as practical, not as a decline
'The vacuum is heavy and there is no reason you should be lugging it around' lands far better than anything about not coping.
Start small
One room, or just the bathroom and kitchen. A full-house clean is a much bigger thing to agree to.
Let them set the terms
Which rooms, what day, what stays untouched. Keeping control of the details makes accepting the help much easier.
Give it a few visits
The first visit with a stranger in the house is the hardest one. It is a very different thing by the fourth.
What to ask a provider
- Will the same person come every visit, and what happens when they are away?
- What clearances do your technicians hold?
- Will you put the scope in writing before the first clean?
- What is your arrival window?
- Are you insured, and for what?
- Who do we contact about scheduling, and who about anything else?
